Muktinath in literal terms refers to "place of salvation' and has its religious importance. Tiny in outlay, it contains a human sized golden statue of Vishnu.Muktinath temple contains bronze images of different Goddesses.It lies at an altitude of 3710m at the bottom of Thorong la pass. This idolized sacred place is major religious attraction of Annapurna circuit. The central shrine of Muktinath is stated as one of the eight most sacred shrines from Hindu Vaishnavas known as Svayam.The route roams through different range of climates. Not only the particular destination but the entire route offers breathtaking views.
Along with the fascinating places, Mustang is also famous for its varieties of flora and fauna such as Hill and rock pigeons, crag martins, rose finches, pied wagtails, rock buntings, black redstarts, impeyan pheasants, grandala, snowcock and white-capped river chats, Himalayan griffin, lammergeyer, golden eagles etc. are the major attraction of this region. Moreover, animals like snow leopard, red fox, marmot, Himalayan wooly hair, blue sheep, yak and lynx are also seen in this region.
Tilicholake: Claimed to be one of the highest lake in the world, Tilicholake (approx.5000m) is equally important from the religious and adventurous point of view.It is a holy place mentioned in the Ramayan(a holy book of Hindus). The trekk starts from the developed town Besisahar leading to traditional village of Manang. Khangshar also knows as the last village of Nepal is thenext stop that directs the trek uptoTilicholake. It is about 4 km wide and 1 km wide lying at the foot of 7,134m summit.
The glistening water, magnificent towering peaks and the native people with their hospitality will not disappoint the trekkers. Every type of vegetation zone from Lush sub-tropical to harsh semi-dessert can be found throughout the Tilicho lake trekking trail. If a trekker wishes, they can continue the trekk from Tilicho, crossing the challenging pass of "Moesokanta La Pass" instead of travelling to "Thorung la Pass" as Tilicho is an alternative paththat will lead to Jomsom.
