Ghorepani Poon Hill Trekking

The destination for this trek is 3200m Poon Hill with it’s 360 degree panoramic view of the Annapurna and Daulagiri mountain ranges.

 

This short trek normally lasts for 3-4 days and climbs through a range of temperate, bamboo and alpine forests following stone paths between villages with stunning views of high snowy peaks, beautiful waterfalls and dense forests of Rhododendron. The climax of the tour is to see the sunrise over the mountains from Poon Hill which is a one hour walk from Ghorepani - the home of ethnic Nepalese Gurung and Magars.

Day: 09 Departures

Day 1 - Kathmandu arrival day .Altitude: 1,350m.

After the arrival of you’re at Tribhuwan International Airport, our customer receiving member will greet with attractive preparations and will drive you up to the booked hotel from the means of your comfort. If your arrival is accurate as planned then, we will also take you to a traditional Nepali restaurant with an opportunity to taste a variety of local foods along with some cultural entertainment demonstrated by the different ethnic castes of Nepal. This is an evening event and depending on the time of arrival, if not viewed on the same day, you will have an opportunity to see it the next evening. event. The following morning, you will be briefed on trekking routes, activities, destinations and their approximate time periods. After a question and answer session and discussion of payment details, you will be introduced to your trekking guide.  

Day 2: Kathmandu Valley sightseeing and trek preparation 1,300m.

in day second , you will taken to a full day tour of Kathmandu city after your breakfast where you will be briefly told about each destination centers like about their history, area, founder, time of establishment, etc. and also your extra curiosities on certain sectors by trekking guide. You will be taken to places that are included in world heritage sites by UNESCO like Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath, etc. After finishing the city tour, we will meet again to check your clothing and trekking equipment (sleeping bag, jacket and trekking boots). We will actually be spending nights also in Kathmandu

Day 3: Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara 820m 6-7 hours .

After breakfast at the hotel, we will drive to Pokhara by tourist bus, which departs at 7:00am in morning. This is a magnificent drive through the Prithivi Highway along with the attractive views of green hills, tooth shaped mountains, dense forests, terrace farms, villages, etc. The bus has two stops, once for breakfast and next for lunch then, we will arrive at Pokhara after 7 hour long bus drive. After the resting for some period of time, we will depart again from the hotel to lakeside areas for a short walk in order to discover the surrounding areas of Pokhara and return back to the hotel for meal as well as sleep.

Day 4: Drive to Nayapul & trek to Tikhadhunga 1,540m By bus 2 hours and 4-5 hours walk.

 On this day, we take a short drive to Nayapul, which is the start part of this regoin trek. After preparing the luggage for the porters and for yourself, the trail takes you on an easy walk towards Birethanti along the river. A short check in official procedure takes place at the ACAP office, and the trail then leads you towards Bhurundi khola, along with great scenery passing through several countryside villages all the way up to Tikhedhunga. We will stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 5: Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani 3,194m 6- 7 hours .

After local breakfast, we prepare for the long uphill to Ulleri, which has 3200 stone steps and amazing landscape views containing the valley and part of the Annapurna range. This view will motivate you to climb up the steps and immerse yourself deeper into the hike. After a short walk from Ulleri, the trail leads you through the forest of rhododendron, which is national flower of Nepal.  Then the trail continues uphill to Ghorepani which is on the top of a hill boasting excellent views of entire Annapurna’s and Dhaulagiri. We will stay overnight at the lodge.

Day 6: Hike to Poon Hill and trek to Tadapani 2,590m5-6 hours. 

We will wake up early Moring for an hour-long walk to the top of Poon Hill for a view of the sunrise, complimented by the panoramic l mountain range. After taking photographs from Poon Hill, we will drop down to the lodge at Ghorepani and trek down to Tadapani after breakfast. The beginning parts of the trail have a steep uphill climb to the ridge by way of stone steps, and after a few ups and downs you will reach Deurali for a short break. Then the trail drops down through the valley and into Banthanti. The entire hike goes through a forest that has wonderful view and refreshing shade. At the end, there is a short, easy walk to the ridge and a steep downhill walk to the river in order to cross the bridge. Then there is a steep climb to Tadapani, which is located on the top of the ridge. We will stay overnight at Guest House.

Day 07: Tadapani - Ghandruk - Pokhara.

Enjoy a beautiful forest trek to the amazingly stunning Gurung village of Ghandruk and explore the ethnic village for a bit. Have your lunch there and later, trek to Nayapul and drive back to Pokhara and stay overnight in Pokhara.

Approximate Duration - 8 Hrs

Day 08: Pokhara - Kathmandu.

After breakfast we will drive back to Kathmandu which is about 6 hours drive or we also have an option to fly for 25 minutes at an extra cost for you .In the evening at 18:30 we will meet to go for a Nepali farewell dinner along with a cultural show.

Day 09: departure

You are saying good bye to the mountains as your journey in Nepal comes to an end today! There is nothing to do but deal emails with your travel companions and organize your photos. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. Approximately 3 hours before your scheduled flight a representative from Nepal Sherpa adventure will take you to the airport. On your way home you'll have plenty of time to plan your next adventure in the wonderful country of Nepal.

UPER BODY LAYERS 

Walking  t-shirt  -2 merino wool, capilene or synthetic fabric over cotton t-shirt which is  quick dry.

Sleeping t-shirt -1 it is can be cotton 

Thermal base layers top -1mid weight long sleeved t-shirt of merino wool or polyester ,capilene or polartec power dry 

Insulating layers -1mid wight fleece that can be worm over other layers 

Fleece vest  optional -advisable for those who feel cold

What is a tea house trek?

You will encounter many tea houses on your trek. A tea house is a kind of local lodge operated by the locals of that very place to support their family or the community. A tea house trek is a kind of trek in which you will have to stay in these tea houses during your trek. Though you will not be facilitated with the incentives of a star hotel but the facilities provided in these houses will be more than satisfactory considering the place and price. Here, you won’t have to take foods and drinks along with you in the trek.

 

What is a camping trek?

As the name suggests, a camping trek is a kind of trek in which you will have to accommodate yourself and your companions along with the office personnel in tents. The tents will consist of kitchens and bedrooms. But, please don’t worry all the tedious and cumbersome tasks will be done by our personnel. These kinds of treks are said to be really adventurous and fun.

Yes, we are fully authorized by the government to conduct any kinds of activities relating to trekking and traveling.

 

Should I obtain insurance for the trek?

 

Yes, we insist you to. Because accidents can occur at any time at any place and it will prove very helpful if you are well backed up financially before any mishaps even occur. You should have yourself insured before your arrival to Nepal and it should cover all sorts of expenses, including the helicopter fees too.

 

Is tipping the guides and porters compulsory?

 

It is not compulsory, legally. But, it has been a common trait and the guides and porters will be expecting a small amount of tip from you. A small amount to you can hold a great essence in their life and can go a long way to help them or their families.

 

Are there any kinds of age limit for trekking in the Himalayas?

 

No, But, under 18 children should be accompanied by their parents and should have the require health ability to trek in the Himalayas.

 

How do I get to Nepal?

Are the trekking personnel fluent in talking English?

 

Yes, of course. In fact we only provide jobs to those trekking guides who have impeccable speaking skills in English, though lacking Academics but with extravagant amount of experience. 

 

How long should we walk every day?

 

Well, in average, you should walk at least 5 hours but no more than 7 hours every day.

 

What is the best season to schedule our trek to Nepal?

 

Frankly speaking, Nepal is a place where you will enjoy your time throughout the year. There are no such restraint in traveling and enjoying in Nepal during any time in the year but as a whole, March-May and September-November are mostly preferred by the trekkers and travelers in Nepal. 

What kind of foods will we be served during our trek?

 

Please, don’t bother worrying about what sorts of food you will be served during the trek. You will be astounded with all the local and international food items you will get to choose upon, that is, in tea house trek. But, you will never be served bad food in the camping trek too. All the food you will be served will be highly hygienic and energetic and not to mention fresh.

 

Can I travel alone?

 

Yes, definitely. But, we suggest you to take at least one guide alongside you because anything can happen at any time and you might not be wary of those possibilities and what to do in possibly difficult situations if you do get stuck.

 

Can we hire trekking equipments from you?

 

Unfortunately, that’s a ‘no’. But, you surely can hire it from Kathmandu and we will help you in that too.

 

What to do during any emergencies?

 

We understand the possibilities of any kinds of emergencies and we ensure you that will do the utmost of our abilities to assist you. But, everything is not in our hands as well and there are some legal constraints too. But, we assure you that we will always stand besides you and help you in any possible way. 

 

How should I dress for the trek?

 

Dress codes vary according to altitude of travel and duration of the trek too. But, please come with something you feel comfortable in and for more information about the kind of dress please do not hesitate to contact us. We will be more than happy to assist you. 

 

What is the maximum weight allowed on domestic flights?

 

The normal weight limit for domestic flights is 20k.g. 

 

Are all the trekking routes facilitated with efficient communication facilities?

 

Almost But some parts of some trek are deprived of effective communication facilities. But, we ensure you that you won’t have to go 3 days without Internet or communication facilities.

 

What If I get sick during the trek?

 

No worries. Our trekking guides have attended various kinds of first aid training programs and will provide you with some general medications at first. But, if the case becomes serious, you will be taken to a local hospital or maybe back to the capital in no time.
