Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

The Ghorepani trek (Poon Hill Trek) is one of the short trek in Nepal. If you are in short of time or concerned about Physical demands of trekking in Nepal, the Ghorepani Poon hill trek is a great option. This short trek gives you access to one off Nepal’s classic view points of the Annapurna range. The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is all about 5 to 6 days, hike in the Annapurna mountain range in Nepal. It takes a moderate level of fitness to complete, and the max elevation is 3,210meters (so there is no altitude sickness).  We will follow ancient trails that connected local communities, pass through blooming rhododendron forests and rice paddies, and enjoy views of snow-covered mountains.

Detail itinerary

Day 1: Arrival at Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel

After your arrival of you're at Tribhuwan International Airport, you will be greeted by our staff member of the soul Himalayan travel & treks by some traditional khata and flower. Our staff will drove you to hotel and you can take rest when you finished check in procedure you can have had your time to settle in and freshen up after your long flight. You will be invited to visit our office for briefing about your program. You will have meeting with your trekking guide and discuss about the equipment needed for the trekking and we will process from the trekking permits. If you arrived late, we will have same discussion in next day morning after your breakfast.

Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing and preparation for the Tour

In next morning, after your breakfast you will leave for a full day sightseeing tour around a Kathmandu valley. You will be taken to places that are included in world heritage sites by UNESCO like Kathmandu Durbar square, the sacred Hindu temple of Pasupatinath, the famous “monkey temple” (Swayambhunath) and Buddhists shrine (Boudhanath). In the afternoon there will be the pre-trip discussion where we can meet our treks. You can also make your last minute buying of personal items for the journey and make sure that all the important trekking equipments are with you.

Day 3:  Fly from Kathmandu to pokhara and trek to Tikhedhunga (823m/2,700ft)

On the third day you’ll take a flight from Katmandu to pokhara which takes 30 minute. After the short flight to pokhara you will transfer to Nayapul, from where the trek begins. Pokhara offers magnificent views of Dhaulagiri, Manaslu, Machhapuchhare, five peaks of Annapurna and others. In the first trail we will head uphill through fertile farms of rice, maize, and millet fields. Following the main trail to Birethani, pass by a small waterfall and continue until you reach to Sudami, where you will have your lunch. After the break we will climb steadily along the side of the valley until you reach Tikhedhunga Teahouse. Overnight stay at the Tikhedhunga lodge.

 

Day 4: Trek from Tikhedhunga to Ghorepani

After your breakfast at your tea house, we will do the preparation for our big climb to Ulleri. The trek begins with a step of stone stairs. After several times we will pass through cultivated fields, old oak forests and Rhododendron blooming forests. We will keep climbing uphill until reach Nangethanti, we will have a lunch there. During winter months, and the trial can be covered with snow. We should work off our lunch and continue the climb until reach to Ghorepani. Overnight at lodge.

Day 5: Trek from Ghorepani to Tadapani and Poon Hill (10,500ft)

In this day we will wake up early and have breakfast. After our breakfast we begin our pre-dawn climb to Poon Hill in just about an hour. This is a spiritual place that provides majestic scenery, especially when the rising sun casts golden light on the nearby snow –covered peaks. After spending some time there then you will return downhill to Ghorepani.This trail works itself uphill and downhill through a range of landscapes. Overnight at lodge.

Day 6: Trek from Tadapani to Nayapul, drive to Pokhara

After our breakfast, we will start our trail to descend steeply until you get to Sayali Bazzar through amazing hillside landscapes, forests, and terraced rice fields. We move form Sayali bazaar  down to Birethanti.From Birethanti, a half an hour trek takes us Naya pul. The trek ends at Naya pul. From Naya pul we take a vehicle and reach pokhara in about an hour. We might enjoy the prospects of visiting some more places around pokhara until evening. we can explore local village and restaurant to enjoy and cherish for great completion of the trip. Day 7: Fly pokhara to Kathmandu: 30 min flight

In this day we fly back to Kathmandu. It takes about 30 minutes. In the morning time we will visit some important spots around Pokhara. . Pokhara is famously known as the city of lakes and has numerous beautiful serene lakes. We can explore the most accessible and beautiful fewa lake. We might do some last hour shopping too. Around noon, we take a flight to Kathmandu.

 Day 8: Farewell

Today you will say goodbye to the soul Himalayan treks and tour. If you have more time you can do some shopping or sightseeing. A representative from soul Himalayan treks will take to the airport approximately 3 hours scheduled flight.

Upper body layers

Walking t-shirts -2 merino wool, capilene or synthetic fabric over cotton t-shirt which is quick dry
Sleeping t-shirt -1 it can be cotton.
Thermal base layers top-1weight long sleeved t-shirt of merino wool or polyester, capelin or polar Tec power dry.

Packs and bags
Duffle bag packs 1 to store excess luggage in at hotel. Soul Himalaya provides duffel bags for the duration of the trek. These are easier for the porters to carry.

Footwear

Trekking boots – 1 must be well worn and comfortable with ankle support.
Socks-3 good and warm enough and worth spending money on quantity socks.

Water bottles -2 (one or two liters) Nalgene or sig style or a bladder. Bladder is preferred
Water purification drops – 1 it is cheap and easy to buy in Kathmandu (pious)

Baseball head (cap) it is useful for sun during the hiking.
Warm woolen hat-1 it is very useful evening and morning when we hike above the 3500m.
Flash light or head torch-1 head light is best as it leaves your hand freehand extra batteries
Personal first aid kit -1 include any prescribed medication (should be your all personal medication).
Travel towel-1 light weight and compact.
Wash kit-1 travel items for the trek.
