DOLPO REGION TREKKING
Dolpo region is one of the most fascinating destinations within Nepal. It possess a rich culture, ethnic diversity and natural landscapes. It is distinctly categorized as Upper Dolpo and Lower Dolpo. Since 1989 the potential of this region for trekking opened, as the government permitted foreigners. The area offers exceptional sights of majestic peaks such as Dhaulagiri, Kanjiroba, Araniko Chuli, Mukot Himal and lakes, such as Lake Shey Phoksundo.
Dolpo remains a truly isolated corner of Nepal: time has stood still here as the inhabitants of Tibetan stock continue to live, cultivate and trade the way they have done for centuries. The ecosystem encompasses a wild and wonderful variety of plants and wildlife.
A trek through Dolpo is an experience not easily forgotten. We trek through birch and silver fir forest to Chaurikot. Panoramic views of Patrasi and Jagadu Himal are visible to the north. This region is also very famous for the herb cultivation given the suitable climate and conditions. The trek meanders through scattered forests of Pine, Oak, Birches, Cypress, Walnut, Bamboo, and Maple. Dolpo is prime habitat for snow leopard, sheeps, ghoral, musk deer, wild dog, wolf, marmot, weasel, mouse hare, rhesus, langur, Himalayan thar, screw, jackal, himalayan black bear, yellow-throated marten & various species of birds.
