Meet Ang Diku Sherpa
My name is Ang Diku Sherpa Tashidelek.
I am from the Kerung village in the Solukhumbu District of Nepal.
Ever since I was a child, I dreamed of becoming a trekking guide. Now, as Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours newest, and first, female guide, it is my desire to show others, from around the globe, the true beauty and essence of Nepal, and an intimate connection to our stunning and mighty mountains.
I started my career as an assistant guide in the Sherpa Society. For the past 15 years, I have worked as a certified professional trekking guide. I have the skills and experience to lead you, having certified in comprehensive trainings in rock climbing, basic rescue, and trekking leadership. I have traveled and trekked throughout Nepal, Europe & India, and am accomplished at leading groups.
During my tourism career, I have faced many challenges being a female in a typically male-dominated field. Nevertheless, I have met and overcome these obstacles, and credit my hard work and positive energy with my growth and success. Today, I can proudly come-to-the-fore and shout to the world that I have successfully achieved my dream!
It is a great honor being selected by Soul Himalaya Treks & Tours as the first female trekking guide in the agency. This partnership has allowed me to further my dream, and reach new goals. I recognize the struggles of females in this field, and I am strongly passionate about encouraging every female out there, whether a guide or a trekking client, that SHE can be successful!
In addition to my love for trekking, I spend my time cycling, cooking, climbing and working as a volunteer for change, advocating for Nepali tourism, and other causes supporting education, and awareness of the trekking industry.
It is my mission to share the beauty of Nepal, both the country and its people. Nepal is not a "poor" country. The people here have a very rich and welcoming heart, a tremendous work ethic, and purity of spirit.
I personally invite everyone to visit Nepal and experience all it has to offer, on the trail and off.
